I’m looking for a (preferably London-based…) graphic designer and illustrators (preferably queer or queer-adjacent… 😉).
This cult cinema lark rather caught me by surprise last summer and I’ve been pumping out DIY graphics ever since (sweating every ounce of my limited Keynote skill set… 👨🏻💻😅). So, it’s time to get a serious grip.
I’m looking to commission a graphic designer to help me devise an integrated brand/logos for TOKEN HOMO, BAR TRASH and with @lastframeclub, our QUEER HORROR NIGHTS. Mainly to pimp this website tokenhomo.com (which I will continue to build and maintain myself), sister socials @tokenhomo and occasional bits of print.
Because I’m totally old-school I would rather you were London-based so we can have a beverage and co-create IRL (if the 🦠😷 taught me anything it’s that I don’t thrive virtually…).
All work is paid (obvs) but as I sell the majority of my film tickets for £1-3, budgets are modest (I know everyone says that…). The main thing is the brand solution has to be self-sustaining (with occasional special projects and refreshes from you). That’s about giving me easy-to-use logos and design templates (preferably in the Affinity software family) so I can keep pumping out good social shit.
The departure point for my design ideas is the vast library of vintage drive-in newspaper ads (like these). I’m looking more for a vibe than anachronistic copies… It’s all about putting a queer showmanship spin on cult films and the sheer joy of shared cinema experiences (… over a few drinks!).
After that, I’ll also be looking to commission illustrators and artists (who don’t need to be London-based) to help me create some sexy merch that reflects what I’m creating with my amazing audiences (a queer-enabled, cult cinema community of beautiful geeks, nerds and oddballs…). Partly because @daisymayhem_ told me to “get merch” (which is reason enough ✊) but also because it would be hot to proselytize queer/cult cinema more widely.
