BAR TRASH is my celebration of cult and curious cinema featuring badly-behaved movies, friendly film chat and prize giveaways, all served with love and themed drinks. Screening at Genesis Cinema and Rule Zero for 2023!
“The most absurd, chaotic but wonderfully funny and entertaining night!” Tina Quinnen
“Wonderful event and Token Homo pours his heart into it.” Adam R. Brown
“The best film night in London.” Loose Willis
BAR TRASH is all about sharing my love of cult and curious cinema with an audience who’s up for the same wild ride. It’s a toast not a roast to films that are often overlooked by the mainstream, embracing genre titles that offer audiences something different.
BAR TRASH takes place in a bar so that we can watch and enjoy these films together rather than sit silently in our cinema seats (and some of the titles really benefit from a drink or two…). We keep prices down because alternative screen culture should always be accessible to everyone (however trashy…). And it’s my job as host to make audiences feel welcome, bring forgotten film histories to life and, should it be needed, call out the bullshit.
As I explain at the start of every show, the spirit of BAR TRASH is that we’re the trash, finding the wonder in outlier films despite – or maybe because of – their “improbable plots, ‘bad’ acting, or ragged film technique.” (Incredibly Strange Films).
See you there…? THx
