You want more? You got it!!! Token Homo and Genesis Cinema celebrate two sensational years of BAR TRASH (“London’s most fun & informative film night” – Sean McGeady) with an epic ‘encore’ season, every Wednesday in Bar Paragon [08 May to 21 August 2024].
ENCORE!!! (aka ‘More of the bloody same’) takes inspiration from all six previous seasons and 78 editions of BAR TRASH. A “Classics” strand features six audience favourites returning by popular demand, while “Also by…” delivers six new titles from much-loved directors.
ENCORE!!! opens with shot-on-video ‘trashterpiece’ BOARDINGHOUSE (1982), postponed from its sold out show in season 6 due to a power cut. After that, we’re showing more films from vintage VHS, a brand new mystery film we’ll only be revealing when we press ‘play’, and a special birthday screening of one of Token Homo’s all-time favourite films. As a celebratory treat, Token Homo will also be recreating another of William Castle’s 1950s moviehouse gimmicks (in a bar!).

“When we planned to celebrate our second birthday in Bar Paragon we thought we would just show a few classics from the early days of Bar Trash that recent audiences might not have seen… But, like the severed hand in DEMONOID, the programming devil possessed me and we are now celebrating two sensational years with a sixteen week season that runs throughout the summer!
Six audience favourites have all been chosen by asking people what they would like to see return, including shows that previously sold out, and I’ve added a couple of personal choices that seem to embody the spirit of our nights in the bar. Then, I’ve chosen a run of new titles from directors who have brought us so much joy, including George A. Romero (director of THE CRAZIES from season 1), William Girdler (director of GRIZZLY from season 2), William Castle (director of THE TINGLER from season 3), and Alfredo Zacarias (director of THE BEES from season 5).
The whole ENCORE!!! season is a heart-felt ‘thank you’ to our amazing audiences and all of the Genesis Cinema crew in the only way I know: by projecting as much light into the darkness as I can. I look forward to seeing you all there!”
