BAR TRASH continues our 14th sensational season — TRASH PLANET 3: APOCALYPSE! — with a far-future sci-fi epic from Japanese auteur Takashi Miike, TERRA FORMARS (2016).

Making his belated first appearance at BAR TRASH, ever-prolific filmmaker Takashi Miike (AUDITION) takes us on an intergalactic journey into mankind’s attempt to colonise Mars after overpopulation has left Earth uninhabitable.

Adapted from the popular manga of the same name by Yu Sasuga and Kenichi Tachibana, TERRA FORMARS is set at the end of the 26th century and travels with an advanced expeditionary team who come into conflict with a species of giant humanoid cockroaches, evolved from earlier attempts to terraform the planet.

With hallucinogenic special effects, creature evolutions to please any Pokémon fan, and plenty of the director’s signature ultra-violence, TERRA FORMARS is a wondrously delirious way to bring our TRASH PLANET 3 season at Beer Merchants Tap to a close.

Polite notice: We are showing TERRA FORMARS in its original Japanese with English subtitles from the best available digital source.
