- The crew of an Irish trawler are marooned at sea as they fight to survive a water-borne parasite.
Written and directed by acclaimed Irish TV maker Neasa Hardiman, SEA FEVER is a beautifully lean, low-budget sci-fi horror that sails in the proud traditions of John Carpenter’s THE THING and joins the pantheon of 1950s paranoia flicks.
Made before COVID-19, the film’s globally diverse crew struggling to self-quarantine foreshadows early chronologies of the pandemic which were largely transmitted through news stories of cruise ships detained at sea. SEA FEVER pays clear-eyed attention to the isolating consequence of horror, but that’s not to suggest it lacks gore amidst the grief (you might need to cover your eyes…).
Are you brave enough to experience the parasitic horror of SEA FEVER in the unique setting of Theatreship? All survivors are invited to join Token Homo in the bar afterwards to celebrate trailblazing horror written and directed by women.
Queer-led, CRUISING promotes inclusion through accessible programming, vibrant hosting, radical film histories, and a diverse lineup of guests with their own distinctive voices. All films are served with introductions by Token Homo and post-screening conversations in the venue bar. For adults aged 18+ only.
