“It’s such a brilliant, joyous and inspiring community you’ve built. BAR TRASH really epitomises what film is all about.” (Audience Review)
Weekly cult film show BAR TRASH is “London’s most fun and informative film night” (Sean McGeady) and one of Time Out’s “50 fun things to do in London for less than the price of a pint” (our most popular ticket is just £3.50!).
Hosted by cult film fanatic Token Homo and friends, BAR TRASH celebrates 3 sensational years with our 10th and biggest season yet, WE ARE TRASH!
Propelled entirely by suggestions from our audience review cards, WE ARE TRASH! revives fan favourites from the BAR TRASH archives alongside the most popular audience requests: more films from/featuring kick-ass women; more world cinema; more mystery film reveals; and LOTS more Vincent Price.
WE ARE TRASH! screens every Wednesday at Genesis Cinema, and on alternate Sundays at Beer Merchants Tap and Finsbury Park Picturehouse, from Wednesday 14 May to Wednesday 20 August 2025.
Staying true to our fan-given coda — “Keep it woke, keep it gay, keep it awesome” — WE ARE TRASH! is a cult film mixtape from the vibrant margins of cinema, and you’re always invited.
“It’s quite incredible to be reaching our third sensational year of BAR TRASH. What started as an attempt to re-build community at the heart of Genesis after COVID has continued to attract audience members across 3 venues, with many coming to several shows a season. Then there are the diehards who come to every show, people whose passion and support simply blows my mind. Whilst our somewhat rowdy Wednesdays and calmer Sunday Sessions won’t be for everyone, a huge amount of effort goes into making all-comers feel welcome, whether it’s your first time or 50th. This third birthday season is a pure celebration of the community we have continued to build together in the darkness.
I often say in my intros that there is little we can do to change the world outside by watching movies, but genuine change has come from our cult cinema nights; we’ve made safe spaces (and always want to learn how we can improve!); we’ve raised necessary funds for charities (mainly Bloody Good Period and Switchboard LGBTQIA+ Support Line); we’ve paid all our collaborators (as generous a rate as we can); and, we’ve made lasting friendships. Perhaps most importantly of all, we’ve made a place where people can come on their own and feel part of whatever it is we create in the room that night. The only thing I can’t promise is that you’ll love every film we show. But, like the themed drinks we serve at Genesis, my plan is to always offer something new (which is why there are so few repeats…). You can always let me know what you think about the films in our review cards and you never know: your suggestions might just pop up in a future season.
Thank you for everything you have given me through three years and 9 seasons so far. I’m stupidly proud to say with as loud a voice as I can muster: I AM BAR TRASH! And I passionately hope you are too.”

SEASON LAUNCH: A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER + Molly Miles (Wednesday 14 May 8:45pm at Genesis Cinema)

A woman from a ‘cursed’ family is released from a mental facility, and soon dismembered corpses start turning up.
“DORIS WISHMAN’S CULT CLASSIC!”
Launch night begins with Token Homo unveiling the full WE ARE TRASH! event lineup (33 films, 3 venues, 3 months!). Then, special guest co-host Molly Miles (CATEGORY H) will introduce Doris Wishman’s cult serving of cinematic mayhem, A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER (1983).
Doris Wishman (1912-2002) was one of exploitation cinema’s ultimate outlaws. Carving space in an industry dominated by toxic masculinity, Wishman channeled some of its depraved desires to release more than 30 nudity and sexploitation films across 4 pioneering decades.
“A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER is Doris Wishman’s only horror film, one whose troubled production history resulted in a dreamlike fragmented narrative. Don’t worry too much about what’s going on in the plot, instead look out for 80s porn star Samantha Fox (no, not that one…) in a starring role, plenty of B-Roll and bloody murders. Unable to be seen for many years, we couldn’t be prouder to bring the film once dubbed ‘cinematic junk’ to BAR TRASH.”

Polite notice: We are projecting A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER without subtitles from the best available digital source (which isn’t saying much…). The film contains scenes of extreme violence and gore, and makes very little sense…
