Cult film night BAR TRASH continues our 13th sensational season — SCREAM FOR YOUR LIVES! — with the defining cult film of the Reagan era, Alex Cox’s REPO MAN (1984).

Alex Cox’s (SID & NANCY) feature debut, REPO MAN is a genre-busting mash-up of atomic age science fiction, post-punk anarchy, and conspiracy paranoia, all shot through with heavy doses of deadpan humour and offbeat philosophy. Featuring an iconic soundtrack with Iggy Pop, Black Flag, the Circle Jerks, and Suicidal Tendencies, stunning cinematography by Robby Müller (PARIS TEXAS), and iconoclastic direction, REPO MAN remains one of the rare films to find its regular midnight audience on the NY city scene.

There is, oddly, a ‘non-sequel’ directed by Alex Cox in 2008 called REPO CHICK that was made on a ‘microfeature’ budget of < $200k and filmed almost entirely in front of green screen. The OG 1984 film is, of course, absolutely no relation to 2010 cluster f*ck, REPO MEN.
