A middle-aged man buys a plant with a sexy voice that develops a craving for insects, frogs, dogs, and humans.
“A LAUGH WITH EVERY BURP!”
Henry Fudd, a meek middle-aged virgin, buys a strange little gurgling plant and brings it home to his suburban home, hiding it away from his kvetching mother. The plant seduces Fudd with her sexy voice and persuades him to divert his attention from pervy peeping and instead feed her ever-growing appetite for all things soft and fleshy.
Buck Kartalian (better known for PLANET OF THE APES) stars in PLEASE DON’T EAT MY MOTHER (1973), an utterly sleazy and offensive 70s version of Corman’s THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Grotesque yet goofy, this is exploitation cinema at its hungriest.
Introduced by curator Ranjit S. Ruprai of SUPAKINO and Token Homo.
Part of SUPAKINO PRESENTS: THEY ATE! CARNIVOROUS PLANTS AND FASHIONABLE HUMANS with introductions and discussions
Some people you just can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ranjit S. Ruprai (aka SUPAKINO) is one of them. Long-dangled like tendrils in the darkness, Ranjit is finally staging his ‘man-eating plant’ triple bill at The Nickel, London’s glorious grindhouse. First up is an episode of THE AVENGERS from Season 4, ‘MAN-EATER OF SURRY GREEN’ (1965) introduced by Ranjit and film critic Phuong Le (Sat 22 Nov 5pm). Then there’s Oldřich Lipský’s 1978 Czech oddity ADELA HAS NOT HAD SUPPER YET (Sat 22 Nov 6:45pm) when Ranjit will be joined on intro duties by art historian Marketa Uhlirova of the Fashion In Film Festival. Then it’s my turn, when Ranjit and I will be introducing PLEASE DON’T EAT MY MOTHER! (1973), an utterly sleazy and offensive LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS ripoff (Sat 22 Nov 9:15pm / Doors 8:45pm)
