“People of Earth. Your planet is about to be destroyed… We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience.”
A family’s new satellite TV system starts receiving signals from another planet, and soon it becomes the passageway to an alien world.
Join me for our Bar Trash alternative Valentine’s Day special!
TERRORVISION is a jaw-droppingly queer MTV-era cocktail blend of 1950s pulp sci-fi, satellite TV channel surfing, and swinging sub-culture (yes, really!).
The Puttermans wire-up their new satellite TV system (the “Do It Yourself 100”) to give the kids something to do whilst the parents have guests over for a swingers party. The “hottest dish in town” beams down a whole bunch of trouble…. With songs by LA art rock band The Fibonaccis, neon production design, big performances, and rubbery monsters, TERRORVISION is a loving tribute to the power of the Cathode-ray tube in our 20th Century lives.
Central to TERRORVISION’s many goofy charms are its exceptional castmembers, including cult icon Mary Woronov (EATING RAOUL), gurning Gerrit Graham (PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE), future LGBTQ+ activist Chad Allen (OUR HOUSE) and Jennifer Richards as TV horror host, Medusa. The spectacularly ambitious creature effects by designer John Carl Buechler (TROLL) don’t hold back either…
We’ll be showing TERRORVISION from Blu-ray to showcase its many lurid charms.
Bar Trash is a celebration of cult and curious cinema, hosted by queer film fanatic, Token Homo. Films served with themed drinks, introductions, intermissions, prize giveaways, and subtitles/captions (where possible). Tickets £3.
