GLOW: THE STORY OF THE GORGEOUS LADIES OF WRESTLING is the true story of what happened behind the scenes of one of the most outrageous television shows in history. It’s also our first Bar Trash documentary screening…
From 1986-92, the airwaves were ruled by GLOW – a neon and glitter-soaked reimagining of the World Wrestling Federation with an all-female cast . . . only with more skits, chainsaws, and personalised rap songs. This DIY documentary, which inspired the hit Netflix series GLOW, chronicles the rise and fall of the iconic show through the stories of those who lived it.
This edition of Bar Trash will be taken over by London’s queer wrestling collective, Fist Club, for International Women’s Day 2024. Join host Katy Bulmer (Loose Willis), Fist Club co-creator Daisy Lang (Rocky Rhodes), and guests as they celebrate the violent, gender non-conforming wrestlers of GLOW.
Bar Trash is a celebration of cult and curious cinema, hosted by queer film fanatic, Token Homo. Films served with themed drinks, introductions, intermissions, prize giveaways, and subtitles/captions (where possible). Tickets £3.
