“Mandroid. Mercenary. Scientist. Ninja. Each one a specialist. Together they are… ELIMINATORS!”
A mandroid – part man and part machine – seeks revenge on the evil scientist who created him.
ELIMINATORS is a big-hearted, low-budget action flick from Charles Band’s legendary B-movie studio, Empire Pictures. Written by Paul De Meo and Danny Bilson (TRANCERS, ZONE TROOPERS), ELIMINATORS combines elements from almost every 80s actioner you can think of with generous doses of time-travelling sci-fi.
The film centres around a Mandroid (Patrick Reynolds), who teams up with a Scientist (Denise Crosby), a riverboat Mercenary (Andrew Prine), and a Ninja (Conan Lee), to seek revenge on the Evil Scientist who created him (Roy Dotrice). Along the way, our heroes battle with a butch riverboat captain, Roman legionaries, cave-dwelling Neanderthals, and a plot to overturn history.
ELIMINATORS comes from the period of peak-Empire and was initially released on a massive 993 cinema screens across the USA. Despite first-week box office success, the film would find a more appreciative audience for its lo-fi charms in the UK, where it did sterling business on VHS.
“The dawn of 1986 saw Charlie Band’s Empire Pictures operating with Cannon-style clout: a mini-major at the height of its commercial power.”
Dave Jay, Empire of the Bs: The Mad Movie World of Charles Band
