ZONE TROOPERS (1985) returns to BAR TRASH having first appeared in Season 3. It comes from the legendary American B-movie studio, Empire Pictures, which was founded by Charles Band. The studio was a family affair with Band’s dad, Albert – an experienced director/producer – working as head of production, brother Richard writing film scores, and then-wife Debra Dion producing several features. Short-lived but much-loved, Empire’s slate included TRANCERS (1984), GHOULIES (1984), RE-ANIMATOR (1985), ELIMINATORS (1986), and TERRORVISION (1986).

Co-written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo (TRANCERS, THE ROCKETEER), ZONE TROOPERS comes from the period of ‘peak Empire’ before the studio’s financial collapse in the late 1980s. This led to Charles Band launching Full Moon Entertainment, a company he still runs today (home of the PUPPET MASTER and EVIL BONG franchises, among many others). Bilson and De Meo specialised in retro genre cinema, and ZONE TROOPERS is the kind of daft but enjoyable sci-fi action film that will put an instant smile on your face! We’re showing it from vintage VHS tape.
