Tobe Hooper took an entirely different strategy for his maximalist sequel to the original lo-fi nightmare that helped re-invent modern horror cinema. Produced by cult film factory The Cannon Group, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 is a darkly macabre horror comedy, featuring all of the blood and gore the original threatened but never served. Maybe they’d been left out in the Texan sun too long, but the insanity of the Sawyer family is dialled up to 11, and Dennis Hopper as their lunatic nemesis makes this the ultimate thrill ride through an abandoned slice of Americana.
