“FIRST FILM WITH THE AMAZING NEW WONDER EMERGO, SPECIFICALLY INSTALLED FOR THIS ENGAGEMENT”
William Castle – writer, director, producer, actor, and exhibitor extraordinaire – was (in)famous in the 1950s and 60s for adding live gimmicks to his films to thrill audiences and keep them coming back for more. In BAR TRASH Season 3, Token Homo recreated Castle’s THE TINGLER (1959) in Bar Paragon with a DIY version of his shocking seat buzzing system, PERCEPTO!
Now, Token Homo returns with another classic Castle recreation, this time for HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959), which also stars B-movie legend, Vincent Price. The film was originally exhibited with EMERGO, “an exciting new screen device” that made sure “the thrills fly right into the audience!”. We won’t give any secrets away, but Token Homo guarantees HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL is “more frightening than a graveyard on a cold night!”.
You are advised that EMERGO is intended to amplify the horror of William Castle’s film HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL to levels which may be unbearable for audience members with delicate sensibilities. A ‘cowards corner’ will be provided for anyone too terrified to endure the final 10 minutes of the film.
Polite notice: We reserve the right for our DIY version of EMERGO to go wrong and will offer no refunds in the event of calamity. HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL will screen without subtitles from the best available digital source.
