“TERROR STALKS THE CITY’S STREETS! ALL NEW UNDERWATER THRILLS!”
Bar Trash celebrated the 70th anniversary of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954) with a packed encore screening earlier this summer in Bar Paragon. Responding to audience demand, the Gill-Man will rise again from the Florida springs for a very rare double-bill of the two official sequels: REVENGE OF THE CREATURE (1955) and THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US (1956).
REVENGE OF THE CREATURE sees a second scientific expedition return to the Black Lagoon to capture the horny Gill-Man. Destined to be the star attraction in an aquatic theme park, the creature’s passions cannot be contained… Hunted down in THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US, the Gill-Man is badly disfigured by fire, resulting in one of the strangest monster sequels of all-time, looping right back to FRANKENSTEIN (1931) and the start of the Universal Studios monster cycle.
“THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON trilogy is one of my favourite film series, contorting Milicent Patrick’s iconic creature design beyond recognition whilst retaining the story’s core narrative about mankind’s toxic stupidity.”
