BAR TRASH celebrated our 200th show with Ed Wood’s PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, with 4DFX and secret stooges!

BAR TRASH loves a gimmick, and so we brought everything we had to our special presentation of Edward D. Wood Jr’s most iconic title, screening as part of our GIRL TRASH season with the brilliant Zodiac Film Club.

Drawing from the deep well of joy from our previous gimmick shows – buzzing people’s backsides at THE TINGLER, floating a skeleton through the bar for HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, and summoning Joan Crawford from beyond the grave for one final appearance at STRAIT-JACKET (all OG gimmicks by my cinema icon, William Castle) – we hit the audience with everything in our idiotic arsenal: flying saucers, smoke and bubble FX, a bashful cameo by our skeleton (who got stuck half way down the fly wire…), ‘Nurse’ Yuki (every gimmick show worth its salt had ‘medically trained personnel’ to add to the thrills), and two spectral manifestations of the living dead: Sarah and Bella from Zodiac Film Club as Vampira (one of our GIRL TRASH GODDESSES of the night, the other Ed Wood/Shirley) and Bela Lugosi (…or was it?). And then there’s the stunning birthday cake volunteered by two BAR TRASH regulars, Tonya and Brooke: a cardboard tombstone and freshly dug grave made of chocolate cake and rice crispies that you had to dig into to grab a chunk with your rubber-gloved hand.

We all screamed and laughed so hard, the show will never be repeated in Bar Paragon. Now that’s a party!!! 🙏
